Seat belts, car tinting, and mirrors are important components in vehicles, but let’s not forget about airbags. They are very important, too.
Airbags are there to protect the passengers in the vehicle in the case of an accident. An airbag is made up of an airbag cushion, flexible fabric bag, inflation module, and impact sensor.
During a collision, the impact sensor will decide whether or not the airbag should be inflated. If inflated, the airbag stops the force in a crash. Typically, if your vehicle is involved in a car accident, your body naturally draws forward and can go through the windshield. Air bags prevent the person from flying out of a windshield or seriously injuring themselves by hitting the steering wheel.
Simply put, airbags flip the momentum in the vehicle and keep you safe.
It is advised that just because you know the airbag is there to protect you, you should not neglect using a seat belt. The seat belt is very important in keeping you safe, and the airbag is there to offer extra safety.
The airbag is an essential part of a vehicle that is designed to keep you safe while on the road.
Airbag history
Law requires that all cars and civilian trucks have airbags installed.
Manufacturers began installing airbags in cars in the 1970s. But it wasn’t until September of 1998, all vehicles sold in the United States had to have airbags.
In 1966, Congress passed legislation saying that all vehicles must have seat belts. At that time, however, law did not require citizens to use the seat belts.
